I like that idea. Some friends and I have dubbed such an expression (written,verbal, hell even musical if you are so inclined) a, "love bomb", as in dropping one on a friend. I think dropping love bombs on those that have made a positive impact, a lasting impression, or have inspired you is so good for both parties. While it can be embarrassing, it's really freeing. I think Knave is right - there's an inclination to be negative (especially around this time of year) and that there is choice in what you focus on. Let's focus on the good stuff - there really was aplenty.
