New LJ Functions and Mobile Interface
I know that this may not mean a lot to many of you, but I've been looking over the new mobile interface for Livejournal, and I've come to a simple conclusion:
I don't like it.
Don't misunderstand - I'm not trying to be some kind of curmudgeon here. I understand the need to grow/advance/improve on your existing technology as an IT company, but I am also a huge fan of 'the right tool for the job'.
The old "WAP" interface was perfect for me. It loaded fast, and (possibly more importantly) it didn't load anything that I didn't want it to load. Some people use userpics that are NSFW. Others don't put things behind cuts. The old interface did away with all of these problems nicely, so it's what I would use when I'm browsing from my work computer.
Now it seems like they're working to pretty up the mobile interface. They're making it graphical. For mobile devices. I know, I know - mobile technology and speed is improving at a phenomenal rate, but this still strikes me as using a sledgehammer when a regular old claw hammer will do the job quite nicely.
I left some feedback for the Livejournal staff, and if you'd like to chime in on the topic, I'd love it if you did so in response to my feedback!

Strangely, when I just fired up this here session, it was back to the old way. *shrug*

2. m.livejournal.com is what I'm talking about - is there another mobile interface? If so, that might be the one that I want/am looking for, but I was under the impression this was the only one.
3. I really appreciate the offer (thanks!) but I don't have an app-capable phone, so I wouldn't be able to beta test. Excited to hear that they're working on one though as I'm sure to one day step into the modern era and have a capable phone. :)
