Portrait Experiment Update

Okay, so here's the results of my most recent Art Experiment Post:
1. lafemmekatia - she's currently not online as avidly as some of us netizen freaks, so
kar0na sent me something in her stead. A picture of her (
lafemmekatia's) mother:
2. theseitz - posted Rodney Dangerfield - because that's how he rolls:
3. And last, but not least - anisette_toast posted this fun pic:
And now for some bullet points:
- I'm going to work on them in the order they were requested, so
lafemmekatia's is first.
- I'm breaking it down like this:
- step 1 - 1/2 hour rough sketch work
- step 2 - 1/2 hour refined sketch work
- step 3 - 1 hour Refined inking/gradient application
- All the images will be in gray scale / black and white. Hey - I'm doing them for free!
- This is a further attempt to refine the best method for me, as I think that my work is improving, but not as fast as it could with a little focused effort.
- I'll be posting the stages as they are complete and describing what I think of the stage - as always, I would love feedback, but I'm going to try to (more or less) ignore it UNTIL after I'm done with that image. This may seem narcissistic, but this really is about my improvement, and I think that I need to work from within first. I will certainly read all feedback eventually though. (and if I'm honest, I'll say that I will likely read it before I'm done)
I have no real reason for using the icon that I did. I just needed to use it since it's new and I wanted some of you to see it.
*starts singing* How many times must I...*trails off*
