mrlich: Photo with great thanks to Joe del Tufo - http://www.deltufophotography.com (eyeball)
I've been hemming and hawing over what to do for my next pc for a long time. There are many factors when it comes to my selection, and too much to go over here (right now), so here's the short version:

1. I want some level of portability (I'll be losing the work laptop soon), but I don't need much in that regard. Most people need far less than they like to think, but whatever. I know what I need and what I want, and what the difference is.
2. I want smoe level of power. I do a lot of digital art in my free time. Celerons (and other low-strength machines) just don't have the punch that I need if I want to do that - especially with any kind of efficiency.
3. Those two points seem pretty opposite.
4. Price is (as always) a HUGE factor.

This very conflict had me back and forth for a long time. However, thanks to engadget, I think that I've found the answer.

Something like this along with an inexpensive (but far more current) desktop, and I should be good to go. What's more, I would wind up saving a great deal over my previous plans.
