One Random Thursday...

You know something? Today was a damn fine day.
Started out like most days - got up groggy and
xtingu took me into work. We've been trying to drop back to a 'one car family' and it's been working great. One car is really all we need between the two of us. When work has her bouncing around she doesn't need to have a car, and when she's home she's really flexible. If she needs the car that day she just takes me to work.
Except when the car blows its head gasket for the second time.
We had been warned by our mechanic that the car had seen better days and that perhaps it was time to retire this one. And so, when the ol' check engine light came on, we knew it was time. So today we planned to go and look at a car that we had been checking out online. We were pretty well sold, and we just needed to make sure that this particular car was a solid option. And so, my dear friends and family - I present you with the newest addition to our little family: The 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT.
She really is a thing of beauty. It took remarkably little time and/or effort for me to sign on for a little more debt. It's ok though - I'm in love with the car, and we're already enjoying the hell out of driving it. Hopefully she'll be with us for a good long time. A quick shout out to the folks at Brandywine Chrysler Jeep Dodge for making the process so painless and fast. Oh, and if you're in the market, and you happen to find what you're looking for there? Feel free to mention
xtingu or myself - we'll get a $200.00 referral bonus!
So as much as we would have liked to go crusin', we had other plans in the works. My Pop had offered to come down and help us landscape the yard - or at least get the proverbial ball rollin'.
And he did just that. He brought down a file cabinet that they gave xtingu, and he brought lots of good humus for us to help fill some dips in our lawn, a crap-ton of awesome plants to liven up our previously very bland yard, and all the tools we would need to do those very things. Yeah - I got it good in the Dad department.
I had a great time hangin with my Dad and playing in the dirt. When we were pretty well done, we came inside, cleaned up, and had some of xtingu's frickin amazing turkey chili which she had prepared in honor of my Dad's visit. I will say this only once: as a huge fan of chili, I warn you - do not pass up a chance at the stuff. It's FULL of win.
After the chili, Dad dashed off home, and we took the new wheels out for its first trip to the hardware store to pick up some garden hose, some tools, and (really) just to spend some time in it.
I'm just saying that this thing will give you a list of options for types of things you might listen to the radio for. Rock, Jazz, Talk, or whatever - select it, and tell the radio to go find it - and it does!
Yeah... it's been a damn fine day. Here's hoping that yours was just as rockin!
Oh, and before I sign off, I should point out how good I've got it in the 'my girlfriend fits right in with my goofball family' department as well. They say that a picture is worth a thousand... so here you go (that's my youngest brother btw):
