I received a promotional email from a very popular IT focused website with that as the headline.

Think about that for a minute. A $50 shopping spree in the IT world would get you what? A cable? Maybe a new mouse? Whoa - a mouse and keyboard combination (if you go for the cheap model)!

Yes, I'm aware that it's very little effort on my part to sign up for a newsletter, I'm just laughing at the concept of a $50 Shopping Spree.

It's the word "spree" that maks it ridiculous. If it said "$50 Gift Card" I wouldn't balk, really.
