You know something? It's true what they say - some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.

 

After a frustrating day at work, I thought to myself: "Self? Cheer up. Soon you'll be in California with some of your bestest buds cruising along a trail on a mountain bike and taking in the scenery! So poop on your day today."

 

"Yeah, " I thought " that's true. Better get some prep work done. Sure you're going to the gym, but you're not really working the whole 'riding muscles' thing... let's get to work!"

 

I agreed and got to it. I found out that Ben has an old hybrid here that he doesn't mind me using. Flat tires (from sitting for way long) and some minor tweaking here and there and she'll be ready for riding. So, first things first, I loaded the bike into van and took it to the local gas station to fill the tires. Don't mind telling you that I felt a little nostalgic there. Brought the bike back and did some tweaking. Adjustment here, finessing there... don't worry - no sledgehammers were used. Sure enough, the time came to hop on. I peddled about 15 feet and I kept hearing a clicking sound - like the chain was having problems settling into a gear or something.

 

Then snap.

 

No more chain.

 

I'll fix it rather easilly tomorrow, but it's just the point.

 

Oh, and climbing up onto that post seat for the first time in.... well - let's just say "...since God was a kid."? Well... that was... fear inducing.
