So I've decided to try a little art experiment. I thought I would do a self portrait concept that's been floating around in my head lately. I have a problem completing my images though, so this little experiment is an attempt to remedy that.

Here's the plan of attack:

1. the image will be done entirely in OC ver. 1.1x so that people can watch the WPE animation after the fact if they would like. If you don't know what WPEs are, let me know either here, or email me.
2. I will spend NO MORE than 15 minutes on the raw sketch work. This is just the raw conceptual level.
3. I will spend no more than 1/2 hour on 'inking' the image
4. I will spend no more than 45 minutes on the color work.

This will (theoretically) leave me with a finished self portrait in 1.5 hours.

I have a countdown timer downloaded and installed for the purpose of keeping me from getting ADD and keeping me honest.

Here goes nuthin'!

OH, YOU HAVE A TIME LIMIT. DUH. When I first read this post, in my uncaffienated state, I saw OC ver 1.1x and thought, buh, tech jargen, lost me, okay, wait for finished product. AH-HAH.

THank you.

Yeah - OC actually is tech jargon. Sorta. It's short for Open Canvas. It's an art program that the folks over at conceptart.org (http://www.conceptart.org/forums) turned me onto. It doth rock muchly!

I was just thinking that this reminds me of your '30 minute timed writing: GO!' daily exercise. Neat!

It's a hard bargain to make with yourself, "For this allotment of time I will do what I want to do without stopping, saying no or that's not gonna work."

Actually, that's a really interesting point. I did allow myself the luxury of changing things. I should perhaps not have, but for this version of the experiment I allowed myself to change things that I wasn't satisfied with. I just had to change them fast. What's more, they had to be 'wrong enough' for me to think that it was worth the time to change them.

However, I might just have to take a page from your books and try straight-shooting next time. No stopping and no remorse.

I like that idea very much.
