lafemmekatia's image - stage 2Did some more work on [livejournal.com profile] lafemmekatia's image for my portrait experiment. There are ways that I see improvement, but I also think that I screwed a couple things up, and have to go back and fix them. Fortunately, this next stage is a one hour long session, so that gives me plenty of time to gent into the flow of things.

I'm trying not to jump the gun here. Part of this experiment is to get me to stick with an image until I've done what I set out to do, and I have to say that I'm fighting that urge now. My instinct is to do quick sketchwork, and if it's not where I want it to be? Drop it and move on. Hopefully I can get through a simple one more hour, and then I can sink my proverbial teeth into the next image.

As always, I would love to get all of your comments/thoughts/recommendations.

It's very interesting to see you do a realistic portrait of someone who's the complete opposite of what we usually see you draw (huge powerful male superhero bulging w/muscles etc.) and still there's that charm, and it's easily identifiable as yours.

another thought:
in looking at the photo I see or at least I think I see a shorter distance between her left shoulder and the side of her head, or maybe the two masses are greater. In your portrait she looks younger and stronger because her neck seems longer and the shoulder seems more broad, less rounded. also seems like her hair is bigger on that side.

This could be a perspective thing that I know nothing about, but is the glasses lens on the right side of the drawing markedly smaller?

It's definitely coming along! And like Linz said, it's cool to see you stretching out and drawing things that are out of your comfort zone. It's really cool to watch the process.
