Unlike the rock stars
boutell or
shellefly, who knew (more or less) just what they were looking for when they started their quest for a tattoo (1 and 2), a lot of folks see my illustrations and decide they would like a tattoo design, but they're not sure what. The conversation usually goes down something like this:
Client: "Wow man. Love your artwork! Would you design a tattoo for me?"
Me: "Thanks! And sure - what did you have in mind?"
Client: "I dunno. Just something kewl!"
While I'm flattered that folks deem me worthy of designing something that they will plan to embed into their flesh for the rest of their lives, I really feel I should have a little more direction from the client. You really should have some kind of input on something like that.
So I've been working on some ideas for products which might be helpful in that department. Products like Custom Designs Crests. I'm not talking about old school traditional heraldry. That's great, and there are plenty of places where you can go to get something like that.
Most of what I've seen has though has been clip art grouped together. That's fine as I think that most folks who are looking for the 'classic' stuff is looking for something other than what I'm looking to do. I'm looking for fresh and new. Funky even.
Maybe a little something like this...
I would need to develop some more samples though. Anyone interested in being a guinea pig?

Date: 2008-01-11 01:54 am (UTC)In other words, I was thinking a sort of a 'flash / logo design / website graphic / family gift / whatevah' sorta thang. A little something for everybuddy. Why limit it to just tattoo stuff. The flavor of the images may be heavily influenced by tattoo design though. Such is the way of my stuff.
