Dear Lazywebs,

In the interest of fairness, [livejournal.com profile] lotusanddragon , [livejournal.com profile] xtingu , and I are looking to see if we can find any good and/or positive video footage about Palin.

Anyone have anything?

I'm too lazy to dig through his entries, but [livejournal.com profile] badlydrawnjeff adores her. I know he has plenty of approving links, so if anyone knows of a positive video, it'd be him.

Here's half the work done: a link to his Palin tag. http://badlydrawnjeff.livejournal.com/tag/palin

Feeling guilty for not playing fair is at least half the reason there's a Republican administration in power right now.

Governor Palin and the McCain campaign have had plenty of opportunity to show how bright she is. That she's a complete provincial who's clearly out of her league is not up to the Democrats to disprove.

Agreed on all counts.

I'm truly interested on how her marketing people can weave the crap she's spewed at interviews into something that people can find inspiring. I want to see the stuff that her supporters are seeing.

(Read: I wanna be armed for when my folks come down today and start talking about the virtues of the Republican party.)

Well, let's just say I haven't heard on the radio or seen on TV any McCain ad that includes her. I mean, not her voice, not her face, and not even her name other than the logo at the end of the TV ads.

And you know, [livejournal.com profile] lotusanddragon and [livejournal.com profile] mrl24 are dear, dear friends of mine, but I really don't understand why they feel the need to honor the "interest of fairness" here.

As for virtues of the Republican party, ask yer folks who Republican "virtues" of less regulation of banks and the stock market, combined with ideals of smaller government, are going to help fix the now-worldwide financial crisis.

I tried to watch the Palin-Couric interview objectively and I just got a headache. But it might be worth a shot, because Couric did a good job with the interview. My parents are suddenly hyper-conservative and I can understand how knowledge is power, but I can only wade through so much.

The graph of who pays what in the proposed tax cuts on both sides is pretty much a rockin' eye opener. I think the Washington Post put it together.

What is the matter with you guys? Palin's virtues are not obvious to you people? She is young, attractive (well, that is what some folks say),slender, dresses well, wears those rockin' glasses, and is an overnight sensation like Paris Hilton and those Kardashian sisters. She can even see Russia from her house. What more could we want in a future vice-president/possibly president?

*chuckles*

I don't know ... I think that I would probably start with 'a brain'. :)

A thought - if you are TRULY interested in a fair assessment of Palin, is video footage the correct path for it?

Seems pretty fair. Is there something else that you would recommend?

I will admit that she has a tremendous uphill climb to make it to anything like 'reasonable candidate' in my eyes, but I really do want to see what people like about her. While I realize that a lot of the media has a 'lefty bend', I did look for anything I could find put out by FOX since they're known to bend a bit more to the right.

The things I found were so vague as to be useless (ie "She's... 'nice'." or "She's 'one of the people'.") or they were flat out lies. (Will have to get references later - at work and can't sit here doing that kind of research.)

McCain (at least 'back in the day' when he actually was a 'maverick') had some things that I could side with him on. That made me hopeful that this election would be one where I would have a real choice in candidates. Thus far, I have found Palin so woefully lacking in anything resembling qualifications that I really feel like I only have one option in the election that is... well... sensible.

So pleaase (and I say this without snark or cockiness) if you have some good information on Palin that puts her in a good light and is more data/fact driven than "She's nice." I would love to see/hear/read it.
