I'm a fan of many of the 'word a day' lists.

My coworker just came up with a new word of the day for us to spread:

Palin - to derail a conversation in an attempt to steer said conversation to a topic you feel more comfortable with.

Example:

Anthony: "Matt - how do we change these settings?"

Matt: "Well, I was talking to HR the other day and they said that our bonuses might be in the next check."

Anthony: "Don't Palinate."

Thanks. We were also thinking that we would use "Stop Bushing things up!"

I think the verb form is palinize rather than palinate.

It was put to the panel of *cough*experts*cough* and we decided that "ize" is overused, so we went with "ate".

Nah, dude. "Palin" is already a verb by its definition. "Palin - to derail..." You've defined it as an action.

So, let us conjugate.

I palin
You palin
S/he palins
They palin
We palin

I want to palin
You are going to palin
We are palining

etc etc etc

"Don't palin by talking about santorum stains!"

Here's hoping the election will be a Caribou Bar-bie-Que.
