Ok - time for my year in review. (Past time, actually, but I've been a busy boy.)

We'll start with what I didn't do - at least didn't do enough of:
  • I never touched my Comicspace page. In the future, I really should use that site more. I think that I have some more 1100 strips brewing in me, and I need to just get them onto the virtual page.
  • In truth? Art. Period. I found (as always) art was a sort of pendulum for me this year. I need to buckle in and do more art when I "don't feel like it" or "don't have time" or any of the many other excuses that I tend to make over and over again.
That's pretty much it for what I didn't get done enough of. Now for the good news:

Misc Art

1.)Children's Book Illustration2.)Nightgirl!3.)Servant Leadership4.)Sketch
  1. There was a children's book project that kinda fell apart in the Nth hour. The good news is that it's an annual thing and next year I know what to do differently.
  2.  Nightgirl was a commission done for anotherjen's daughter. This one has a watermark on it because I want her to have the only 'clean' copy.
  3. My brother is contributing some of his thoughts on Servant Leadership to a soon to be published book and he asked me to do a quick illustration pointing out some of the ideals of the management style.
  4. And lastly a quick 20 minute sketch. This one may be NSFW depending on your place of employment. :)
Fan Art

1.)Death2.) No Pink Ponies3.) Viking for Wolves of Odin4.)Mugmoni's Birthday Present

  1. I did a lot of fan art. This seems a popular thing to do these days. I think that most folks are doing it for marketing reasons more often than not, and I can't really blame them. I have to figure that people are going to do a whole lot more searching for an X-Man like Nightcrawler than they are for Patch. I did the (very rough) sketch of Death as a tribute to Neil Gaiman's storytelling prowess.
  2. I also did some No Pink Ponies fan art.
  3. Next was some "Little Warrior" sketchwork which I attributed to my waiting for Grant Gould's Wolves of Odin to be released.
  4. The vampire is a birthday fan art for [livejournal.com profile] mugmoni .

Other Art:

1.)The Dragonbones.net Crest2.)Wolf Eyes Versus Human Eyes3.)Lobstah Chowdah Beeah4.)Stages of Me Meme 5.)Halloween6.)Frankenstein's Monster7.)Aarakocra 8.)Happy Holidays

  1. Then there was the new Dragonbones.net crest. I like the idea of doing custom crests for people still, but I don't know that I have the kind of time it would take to do some 'samples' for free as I had originally posted. We'll see.
  2. I did a quick study of the differences between human eyes and wolf eyes.
  3. The lobster thing? That's what happens when you get in touch with old friends and start talking random ideas.
  4. Next we have the Stages of Me meme - really liked both the idea and how my contribution turned out.
  5. The werewolf and...
  6. Frankenstein's Monster were for Halloween.
  7. Next was the linework for an Aarokocra which will be the first page of my 'fantasy alphabet book' (should I ever return to that little project)
  8. And lastly we have my holiday e-card

Wow. An image per month is really what that looks like to me. I really need to do a lot more this year. Sure, I did NaNoWriMo (still working on finishing that) and Burning Man and tours with the IJG, so I feel like I did a whole lot more artistically, but this year? I'm going to do more art.

In addition to these images, I have some video of some of the sketchwork done for all of the above. I'll be adding that to this post soon.

Yeah - I realized that I missed a bunch. That's what I get for posting the thing at 3 in the morning.

As to Nightgirl in particular, I actually left her out on purpose originally. As it was a commissioned piece that was done digitally, I wanted you guys to have the only 'finished copy' of the work. I think though, after thinking about it a bit more, I'll post an unfinished version or one with a watermark.

Yeah - it's pretty good. I need to have you looking over my shoulder when I draw more often. I don't know if you remember, but you were adding input as I went on that one. The results speak for themselves.

I love them all, but that Frankenstein particularly steals my heart.
