I just finished reading Astro City: Life in the Big City. It got me thinking.

I've always loved them. Comic books and Super Heroes. While I would deny it fiercely in mixed company, they've been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I attribute this love/fascination to my father mostly. When I was only just barely able to understand what he meant, he began telling me stories. They always started with "There once was this little boy who's name was Matthew Lichtenwalner - but he was also secretly the Amazing Spider Man! (or whoever my current favorite was)!" and they always ended with "and the little boy's father said 'Thank you Spider Man! Thank you!'"

Before I was old enough to go to school, I was given an entire world where I could be my hero's hero.

Today, I am all too happy to continue looking for heroes. Oh sure, there might not be anyone swinging through the nighttime sky in tights, or soaring through the air faster than a speeding bullet, but they're out there if you know where to look.

Here's to the heroes in all of our lives - those that teach us right from wrong - and who help us to fly.

Would you concider remarrying? A man?

How about adoption?

I can't wait for the day when I finally have my OWN place so that I can set things up.

Ah - the advantages to living with Mom and Dad again are plentiful - but the toys must stay in boxes. Although Ghostrider is looking down on me from atop my monitor...

On top of my monitor is Buddy Jesus, The Tick, Three smurfs about to be attacked by GlollumJudge Dredd and Judge Death, a Micronaut and Gandalf. This office is mine, but the rest of the house is my wifes. Well, except that I have my claymore on the wall in the living room and two japanese sword sets on our bedroom walls.

And if you do the lawn and take out the trash, I won't ask you to shave your legs...

I actually laughed out loud at that.

But only because you seem to think (even if only for a fraction of a second) that I would be willing to do some sort of manual labor!
