While some of you may laugh at me for it, I'm deeply saddened to hear about the passing of a brilliant and creative mind. He created something that helped so many of us dream bigger and more vividly than we thought possible.

Little Warriors - the VikingStarting a new project - the Little Warriors. I'm going to be doing a series of images of kids in costume with the archetype they're dressed at behind them.

There's a couple of things I would love some feedback on:

1. I'm not sure yet whether I want to make the background figure 'ghostly' or 'tangible'. Right now I'm leaning a little more towards ghostly - with a slight shift. I was thinking about making them look more tangible the closer they are to the kid in the foreground. Any thoughts?

2. "Little Warriors" or "Lil Warriors"? Again - I have a direction that I'm leaning towards, but I don't want to sway anyone. I want all of your gut reactions.

I selected viking as the first archetype as a sorta advance fan art for [livejournal.com profile] gdg's Wolves of Odin. (I really can't wait.)

Oh, and no - this one is not done - not by a long shot - but it's late and I need sleep.

Lines by Xia - Colors by me.A while back I was doing "coloring book" exercises from the conceptart.org forums and then I stopped. Not really sure why, but I did. It's painfully clear that my color work (like all my work) needs a lot of practice/improvement, but I set it aside for a while. I think that maybe I got bored doing other people's lines. Kinda hard to imagine given the quality of the linework, like that seen here to the left by Xia.

Anywho, this may be a one and done kinda thing or I may do more. In any event, this one's as done as she's getting. She was a lot of fun though, and if you see Xia around, say thanks for me! ;)

Oh, and of course, comments/suggestions/thoughts are (as always) welcome either here on in the gallery!

Nightcrawler - finished!Well kids, I finally finished up the Nightcrawler colors. Took a little longer than I would have liked for a piece of fan art, but yeah well. I'm more or less happy with the results. I went for more muted colors - which seem to be all the rave these days. It's a pleasing effect and adds to the 'believability' of the image (which is amusing when it's Kurt). Also went for a better spectrum of tone, and I think that I managed it moderately well. I'll be doing more in this style in the near future.
